Arvis - PB Range Plummer Block Housings

The Arvis PB Range Plummer Block Housings are self-aligning plain bearing housings with a pre-mounted Glacier DU or DX steel-backed bearing. The bearing sits in a captive inner member and accommodates shaft misalignment of up to 15°. Precise alignment during installation is therefore unnecessary, and edge loading is eliminated so the full performance of the DU or DX bearing can be used.

Features of the Arvis PB Range

The standard housing is made of grey cast iron and supplied with a pre-finished bore. Because the plain bearing runs with a working clearance on the shaft, no press-fitting is needed as with some rolling element bearings, making assembly quick and simple. DU and DX provide long life with minimum maintenance, and sealing is unnecessary in most applications. Axial location can be provided by a shaft collar or shoulder, and standard Glacier thrust washers can be added where moderate thrust is expected.

The choice between DU and DX depends on the application. DU is a high-performance dry-bearing material for situations where lubrication is impractical or undesirable, at operating temperatures from -200 °C to +280 °C. DX performs outstandingly when greased on assembly only; re-greasing at extended intervals prolongs its life further. DX is suitable for temperatures up to 120 °C.

Sizes and Applications

The PB range is available ex stock in metric and inch sizes for nominal shaft diameters from 10 to 100 mm and ½″ to 4″. Other housing materials and non-standard versions can be supplied to special order. The Arvis PB Range Plummer Block Housings are used in machine building, material handling, automation, agriculture, food processing and packaging, among others.
