Arvis - FC Steel Flame Cut Split Housing

The Arvis FC Steel Flame Cut Split Housing is a flame cut steel plummer block and a robust replacement for standard SN, SNL, SNH, SNA, SNV and SNE housings where greater strength and shock resistance are required. It is manufactured from hot-rolled S275 steel plate to BS EN 10025 and is dimensionally interchangeable with compatible SN-series housings.

Construction and Bearing Arrangement

The split top cap is precisely located with dowels and secured with high-tensile socket cap screws. The housing accommodates double-row ball bearings and spherical roller bearings, with parallel bores for metric shafts or adaptor sleeves for metric and imperial shafts. A controlled clearance between housing bore and outer race absorbs minor dimensional inaccuracies, mounting misalignment and thermal expansion of the shaft. Locating rings ensure correct axial positioning. The range is available as split versions (FC200S and FC500S) and fully split versions (FC200SS and FC500SS).

Lubrication and Sealing

The housing is designed for grease lubrication and is normally supplied with felt seals, suitable for peripheral speeds up to 4 m/s and temperatures up to 100 °C. A grease nipple allows periodic relubrication, and a pressure relief valve can be added to prevent overfilling. Modified mounting holes and versions for oil or oil-mist lubrication are available on request. Bearings and end covers can be supplied with the housing.

The Arvis FC Steel Flame Cut Split Housing is ideally suited to heavy machinery in mining, steel, cement, construction, agriculture, conveyors and processing plants, and to retrofit projects where existing cast iron housings fall short.
